Interactive Math Tools...

This site has a great tool to try if you teach Math. There is also an interactive calendar template that works well. I found the interface to be very simple to understand and use. It is from Glencoe/McGraw Hill.
Interactive Math Tools
Give it a try-
I am sure there are many uses that can be found. :)

Project Based Learning....

Edutopia is a nice resource for finding out more about Project Based Learning. There are a couple short videos to watch and other links for you to use.

This site is from the George Lucas Education Foundation. There is also a "Big List" on their site with many links to read about Project Learning from other Educators.

The Think Quest Library can also provide resources from already created projects. These are done by student teams. Click here to read more... This is a site that I enjoy looking at to get ideas for my own use, see what you think!

Planet Festo... Beautiful Web Site, Great Purpose

Visit Planet Festo and "create your piece" of a ribbon of images promoting good earth practices.
Choose "Kids Only" in the dropdown before you view with your class, but do take the time to view this on your board. You can have students create a written piece committing to preserve resources or protect our planet. It can be short but should be heart-felt. You might also create a class piece that you compose together and post as a part of the ribbon. The music is soothing and the images are nice. Just remember to preview prior to class use and always choose kids only in the dropdown. The adult section is not too bad, but always err on the side of caution when viewing anything with children. Nice thing about this site is if you do see something that is off color or not appropriate you can flag it. On the kids only ribbon you will see some insightful thinking from those who have added their piece of the ribbon... very nice!

Flickr Photostreams Galleries, and Sets...

Have you seen the Mossy Oaks Flickr Photosets? Well take a look at some of the people out there you might know... It is easy to create a Flickr account to use with your class. Follow this link to the MOE Flickr account and then look around at all that you can do.

Creating sets and galleries are easy and can then be linked to as a photostream or just the sets. Free accounts allow at least four sets, or groupings of photos which you can rotate between throughout the year to keep fresh. For safety sake Flickr is blocked under student account logins, but you can show your photos on your board or link to the sets on your web page for home viewing. Uploading is quick and easy and I find that Flickr does not require too much from my computer, so it works pretty well- I know everyone is using their digital cameras for classroom projects so why not share! Free is a great deal- and works well is even better!

Web2Clicks Page

Here is the Web2Clicks page I created for our Jan 22nd Staff Inservice. In case you have forgotten the many sites we visited, go back and take a 2nd look. Cog Dog Roo is my favorite from this page but Filamentality is likely the most useful for creating things such as hotlists and web searches to use in the classroom.

Don't forget about these useful resources as you plan for lessons with your board. Web2 sites will easily run from within a flipchart, and in fact you are more than welcome to link back to the entire page. It is uploaded to a local site but is available online, anytime --- you do not need to be at school to use it.

Calameo! Publish Docs as Books!

Calameo-
Very cool site you can use to upload documents of many different flavors and then turn those into ebooks that page turn and zoom! You can even embed these into your blog or wiki and wow! They look great on a big white board. This might be what you are looking for to bring your important docs to your class. Give it a try!

LetterPop! Online Super Cool Publisher...

Letter Pop is an online substitute for MS Publisher that creates newsletters, announcements, flyers, and more on the fly. That means you can bring this up with your class and create at the board. Better yet, practice some on your own, and then have the children come to the board and create something themselves. Perhaps you are doing something neat and would like to share with other classes- Maybe your group has been working hard and could create information to send home to parents- not your note, but their own announcement of what has been accomplished.

Don't be afraid to try this... Here is a short video clip of what the site looks like and some of what is available. Hope you will try adding this to a lesson soon. Whatever you do create can be saved into a flipchart as a lesson/example for others who may want to try after they see your groups' creation.

Click for Kerpoof !

Looking for something different for your children to do? Bring up the web site "Kerpoof" on your white board and make a movie with your class. You can show the students how to use the easy time line and characters and then create something that really works. You can also make cards and add work of your own to the gallery.

This is an interesting site and is something that children can use safely to create. Items can be saved or not- your choice. Once you show them how as a group they will be able to do this all on their own. The gallery allows you to favorite works that are saved and you can add your own masterpieces.

Nasa TV...

Did you know that NASA broadcasts live from the shuttle and the space station?
Well right now you can check it out by following the link on the left. The pages NASA shares along with this are biographies of the astronauts and all kinds of facts about the current mission and those past. If you will be patient the stream will load for you. I have watched them exercising on the space station and taking space walks. There is also a NASA for kids page you can jump to- Nasa for Kids with many cool games and activities that teach something and are fun.

Try these out on your board and perhaps think of sending a link to the Kids page home on your newsletter or post it to your web page. We have a link on our site as well if you want to refer parents - it is found under classrooms/helpful links.

Google for Educators...

Google for Educators

Have you been out to see what all Google has to offer for teachers and classes? Some of the cool tools are specific searches (a dedicated search link you can use on your board) such as government searches. You can also create a web page with your class and instantly publish it. You can find teacher forums and activities and plans for the classroom. Google Docs is a fab tool and includes a place to upload and store docs and presentations you can use anywhere.

Give it a look and let your team members know if you find something cool to use.

From surfnetkids.com...

This is a cool site for many little widgets you might like for your own blog or school page- there are also other things to try- and I think some printables
Here is one that I like and it provides a daily feed of facts which are appropriate for the season, or holidays that may happen... themed if you like-
